Minang and Its House of Gadang

People travel to faraway places to watch, in fascination, the kind of people they ignore at home
~ Dagobert D. Runes ~

West Sumatera means Minang. And Minangs means Gadang House. In Batu Sangkar, you can see it directly.

Istana Baso Pagaruyung (infront side)

Istano Basa are better known Pagaruyung Palace, is a palace located in the district of Tanjung Emas, Batusangkar, Tanah Datar, West Sumatra. This palace is famous cultural sights in West Sumatra.

Istano basa stands now is actually a replica of the original. The new building was not established on the site of the Old Palace, but in a new location in the south. on 2007, this palace was burned. According to the information I've heard, this palace will be opened in public after its inauguration by the local government in april 2013.

Istana Baso Pagaruyung (back side)
You can travel for 2 hours to the palace from Bukit Tinggi. This palace is usually crowded on weekends. Most local people visit this palace and take picture in front of it. Other that, there is a spot that you can rent a traditional clothes of Minang and take picture. You can pay IDR20,000/person. Mostly for female.

If you want to see the original of house gadang, this is the place.

Have a great travelling and create your own journey.
