12 Things You Can Do in Bukit Tinggi

West Sumatra has many exotic places are worth to be visited and explored. Many foreigners who visit the province besides than Bali. And the most famous city is Bukit Tinggi. It became a mandatory destination city in West Sumatera. There are many things you can do in Bukit Tinggi. What are they ?. 


As one of tourism city in West Sumatera, you can explore and spend your time in Bukit Tinggi. Cool temperature and quiet place is one of the reason why tourist should come here. Here is the tips while you're in Bukit Tinggi. 


1. Shopping at Pasar Atas and Pasar Bawah.

In Bali, you can find Sukawati market then in Bukit Tinggi you can fin Pasar Atas and dPasar Bawah. A lot of stuff that will make you shocked while in this both market, especially with its price. The price could make your wallet discharged immediately. However, you must be smart to bid to buy goods here. Mostly original goods from West Sumatera sold here.


2. Clock Tower.
The icon of this city is Clock Tower. You can reach this place because of its location in the center of town. The famous places and easy to reach. 




3. Panorama Park. 
Not far from city, you can reach a great view Ngarai Sianok from Panorama View. A fabolous spot especially for a photographer. 


4. Lobang Jepang.
Japanese hole is a tunnel (bunker) protection of the occupation army built around the year 1942 for defense. Currently, this hole being developed by the Bukit Tinggi government to be better managed. A concept with Movie theater, cafe, photography venue will be built here. 


5. Ngarai Sianok. 
Sianok canyon is a steep valley (cliff) located in the border town of Bukittinggi. The valley is elongated and meandering as the southern boundary of the city to the canyon Koto Gadang and ended in the district Palupuh. The depth of Sianok canyon is about 100 m, stretches along 15 km with a width of about 200 m. Sianok canyon has beautiful views.


6. Janjang Seribu. 
A new icon of Bukit Tinggi which was built to adopted like the Great Wall of China. The track length of about 800 meters and the stairs in 1000 then it Janjang Seribu. 


7. Fort de Kock. 
The fort was founded by Captain Bouer in 1825 during Merkus Baron Hendrik de Kock as a commander of Der Troepen and Deputy Governor General of the Dutch East Indies, which is why the fort was known as Fort Fort De Kock. Now, you can see cannons from period 19th century as the heritage of this place.  


8. Fort De Kocksche Dieren Park
The location of this zoo is not far from the fort de kock. You just cross the bridge, then you're in the zoo already. The collection of animals in this zoo can be calculated, but enough to be the center of a family vacation. 


9. Bung Hatta Musseum. 
For you as a fans of the our proclaimer of Indonesia, you can visit the museum of Bung Hatta and the location is not far from the clock tower. Here you can see the all bung hatta memorabilia . 



10. Gulai Itik Lado Ijo.
Spicy ?. Yes, one of the icon of culinary in West Sumatera is spicy food. Gulai Itik Lado Ijo is one os typical culinary area Bukittinggi, Batusanggkar and surrounding areas. This stew is so special because it is very thick and the colour gravy green with chillies marinated spicy. 



11. Keripik Sanjai. 
Sanjai cassava chips is a typical snack from Bukit Tinggi and made from cassava. It usually treated with a spicy seasoning.



12. Kampiun Porridge. 
A local porridge and many sold in Bukit Tinggi. Black rice porridge and banana compote mixed. Then donot forget the white pulp marrow, Cande porridge and gruel dalimo. Mix all in a bowl of porridge and be Kampiun Porridge. A delicious food and great for your appetizer.
