Parijs van Sumatera and Its Story ... Bukit Tinggi

Travel for fullment and I get it in Bukit Tinggi. A great pleasure and so relaxing. Great city with its great story. 

Carrying a story of my head regarding Bukittinggi is a way for me to know the historical story of Indonesia along side of this town. The city has been as a the capital of Indonesia during the Emergency Government of the Republic of Indonesia. Other that, Bukittinggi formerly known as Fort de Kock and was once dubbed as Parijs van Sumatera besides of Medan. The city is the birthplace of some of the founders of the Republic of Indonesia, Mohammad Hatta is proclaimed and the acting president of the Republic of Indonesia.

Bukittinggi is also known as a tourist city in West Sumatera  with air temperature is cool, and siblings (sister city) with Seremban in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. The whole area is directly adjacent to the city of Agam District. Visited tourist spot is the Clock Tower, a clock tower located in the heart of the city as well as a symbol for the city. 

High hill for this city and it makes Bukittinggi is famous not only in the province of West Sumatra but in Indonesia. The symbol is also speciality of West Sumatra has a unique story because of his age and the decades. Clock Tower was built in 1926 by architect Yazin and Sutan Gigi Ameh. Laying the first stone at this do Rook Maker's first son who was then 6 years old. This clock was a gift from the Queen of the Netherlands to Controleur (Secretary).

The numbers on the clock are also unique. Number four in Roman numerals are usually written with the IV, but at the Clock Tower is listed with IIII.

You will never be in town if you have not visited Bukit Tinggi is the Clock Tower. Almost every time, the city landmark was crowded until night. Especially at night of the week. Waw. Amazing like a night market. many traders sell their product then it make the beautiful of Clock Tower disappear with its crowded. 

Holaa.. Bukit Tinggi, a town must to be visited.
